Founded in 1907, Seattle Children’s Hospital is nationally recognized as one of the top pediatric hospitals. It serves families from across the country with a primary service area covering Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. In 2006, a research division was established, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, focused on finding cures for childhood diseases and developing new standards of pediatric care.
Seattle Children’s leadership made the difficult decision to migrate its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to a new site and provider while also upgrading its software version. The change was not considered lightly given its enterprise impact on financials, supply chain, human resources, payroll and reports. The decision was driven by the desire to provide a more stable platform for the growing organization and its increasing demands on the system.
Once approved, the program became one of the top priorities for the organization.
After kicking off the program with internal resources and other vendors, the program sponsors realized additional leadership was needed. The business and technology owners selected Forum Solutions to program manage the effort.
Over the course of a year, the Forum Solutions team, working hands-on across all functions of the organization, helped Seattle Children’s create a clear vision for leading the massive change the organization would undergo. This included developing an integrated and actionable program plan with clear roles and responsibilities and a strong change management and communication plan. Forum Solutions facilitated the collaboration across business, technology and vendor resources to drive forward as a single, cohesive team effort.
The ERP migration and upgrade successfully went live in mid-June 2018. The documentation, communication and support provided throughout the testing and go live were acknowledged as key factors in the success.
