Room for All: Rainer Valley Food Bank Expands Their Facility and Programming
Forum Solutions was excited to participate in a “hard hat tour” at the Rainier Valley Food Bank (RVFB), checking out the new building that is under construction. RVFB has a bold vision to create a community food hub in South Seattle, serving individuals, families, and communities who experience food insecurity, by renovating the facility and expanding programs.
It was inspiring to tour the construction site with Zoey Ferenczy and Hilary Reddy from the RVFB development team and Kevin Engelhardt from Buchanan who leads the construction project. The primary goals are to expand programs that meet the growing need for services and to serve people with dignity. We saw this commitment coming to fruition in so many ways, from expanding and optimizing the space for existing programs like the grocery distribution and school backpack program, to thoughtful design decisions like a covered waiting area (ensuring guests don’t have to stand in the rain while waiting to pick up groceries or prepared meals) and community spaces that invite neighboring schools and families to learn about healthy foods and how to prepare them.
Forum Solutions is proud to partner with Rainier Valley Food Bank and offer pro-bono consulting services to set the organization up for success with their technology choices as noted in our recent article: Accelerating the Mission to End Food Insecurity in Our Community.
